Coating Thickness Measurement

By using a novel comination of mathematical modelling and non-contact transducers, we are able to determine the materials properties of thin (<100 micron) coatings on metallic substrates using relatively low frequency, broadband techniques. Conventionally, ultrasonic probing of the thickness of a coating requires using ultrasound of high frequency, so that the wavelength is smaller than the coating thickness.
